Dear Sir,, I am an NRI living in the USA. Recently I came to know that your government has approved the amendment of the RTI act which I believe will take the soul out of the Act and thereby defeat the purpose of the act itself. Please ensure that file notings do not get exempted from disclosure as is being planned by the govt. This will be a BIG setback for RTI's effectiveness as a tool to control corruption because it will become difficult to pin down the responsibility for actions and inactions on part of the officials.
In fact surprisingly, you were the first one to favor exclusion of file notings after the Act was implemented. The DoPT followed its master and boldly violated the Act by putting this on their website. CIC has recently rapped DoPT for the same. I hope you shall not disappoint us and (y)our future generations.
