Dear Sir, “I believe that the passage of this Bill will see the dawn of a new era in our processes of governance, an era of performance and efficiency, an era which will ensure that benefits of growth flow to all sections of our people, an era which will eliminate the scourge of corruption, an era which will bring the common man’s concern to the heart of all processes of governance, an era which will truly fulfill the hopes of the founding fathers of our Republic.” These were your words on the floor of the house on May 11, 2005. Now your goverment has moved to pass an amendment that will shame the sacrifices of our founding fathers. It sounds the death knell for any hope that the nation had for battling deep rooted corruption within the system. The toothless act will now force the common man to surrender to the exploitation by those few in authority. The benefits of growth will continue to be usurped by the unscrupulous elements in the administration as they have been doing for half a century. I appeal to your conscience to withdraw this retrograde amendment and live up to your words. Lest you be remembered as yet another of those who belied the hopes of a nation.
