Achievements

Janpath and its associates were actively associated with nationwide struggle for getting RTI passed in the parliament. One of the special features of this struggle was that, along with NGOs, voluntary organizations, common citizen of this country joined and supported this struggle. MAGP is a platform in Gujarat where citizens came together for RTI. Though it has not being registered in any form of organization, it has shown consistency in its programmes, has played active role in policy advocacy and created space for various groups and sections of society to come together to participate for good governance.

Once act was in place, MAGP played active role in capacity building of both demand and supply side by orientation and training programmes, starting RTI helpline 9924085000 for online guidance to RTI users, and Sensitization programmes with senior officials of various departments. In the past 9 months, RTI helpline has got more than 9000 calls 70% of which are from rural Gujarat. MAGP organizes Saturday guidance camps, wherein critical cases are handled. Senior citizens, college students, lawyers, professors etc volunteer for Saturday camp as facilitators.
